Background

My equestrian career had a unique if unconventional beginning. Neither of my parents can even ride a horse. However, on my 1st birthday, which had a carnival theme, I was put on a horse and I am told I loved it so much, that I refused to come down even to cut the cake. There began my passion for horses!

TRAINING

My love for horses only grew and I began my training at the age of four. I have been privileged to have the guidance of some India's finest trainers. Mrs. Roshan Sodhi, a qualified International level equestrian judge, was the motivation behind my success in this field. She saw my potential and urged me to take up the sport more seriously. I trained under her guidance for many years, and later was fortunate to train under the guidance of Mr. M. S. Jai Rathore, the uncontested Indian National Dressage champion and a British Horse Society Instructor. I was under intense training with him for many years.

Research and Development Business Plan on Goumutra - Arka (Cow Urine)

In 2008, I noticed my cousin applying fresh Goumutra – Arka, an Ayurveda treatment to cure a skin problem.

Post 12th grade, I started researching Goumutra and its multiple benefits. I visited K.G.M Ayurvedic College, K.G.M Ayurvedic Hospital and Keshav Shrishti Gaushala, a rural cow-based industry consisting of a small production center to produce Arka (distilled cow urine) in Mumbai. This made me cognizant of the future of Ayurveda globally.

I have compiled a research paper on the multiple benefits of cow urine and I have developed a business plan for manufacturing Arka.

Significant Moments

On June 26, 2010, while attending summer school at University of California, Berkeley, USA, a fire broke out in my campus dormitory in the early hours of the morning. I was living on the eighth floor in Ehrman Hall. The fire had broken out in the basement and smoke quickly travelled up the garbage chute infiltrating the entire building. Equipped with fire drills, I started vacating, but many ignorant students continued sleeping.

I soon realized that the situation was dangerous because visibility had diminished and a sense of unreality set in. Eyes burning due to intense smoke, heat permeating through the walls, the fire drills could not have prepared me for this and I was faced with a difficult decision - either save my own life or save others by risking my own life. Natural leadership instincts took over, and as first responders, another student and I started knocking on closed doors, shouting instructions, and urging students to vacate. As chaos and confusion ruled, all gave up but I still persisted. As a result, I was amongst the last to leave the building after more than 100 students had evacuated.

Soon multiple sirens were heard and the professional responders arrived. The fire-fighters extinguished the fire, the ambulances took away few students for hospitalization and the media questioned the dazed students about their experiences, most of them pointed out to me as their saviour. As a result, I was interviewed by USA TV.
